Despite Nakamura’s unexpected participation in the tournament, Zhang, a chess enthusiast since the age of 6, competes regularly in the event.
Nakamura, a prominent chess streamer with over three million YouTube subscribers, is highly regarded in the chess community. His presence at the tournament created a buzz among players and fans, with many seeking autographs and interactions with him. Nakamura viewed his involvement in the tournament as a way to give back to the chess community and reminisced about his own experiences as a young player meeting grandmasters.
