Detective Charlie Hudson is set to make a comeback as actor John Reardon reprises his role in the ninth season of the popular TV series, “Hudson & Rex,” Citytv revealed on Tuesday. Originally the lead in the cop-dog show, Reardon was temporarily replaced by actor Luke Roberts in the eighth season.
Last year, Reardon shared on social media that his departure was not voluntary, attributing it to a diagnosis of tonsil cancer during Season 7. Although medically cleared to return, the show’s creators opted for a different direction. This decision sparked a global outcry from fans, who flooded social media with protests and even took out newspaper ads demanding Reardon’s reinstatement.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Reardon stated his eagerness to reprise the role of Charlie, acknowledging the show’s loyal fan base and expressing gratitude for their support. Shaftesbury, the production company, also welcomed Reardon’s return, with chairman and CEO Christina Jennings expressing excitement about the upcoming season.
Production for the new season is slated to commence in June in St. John’s, N.L., with an intriguing storyline awaiting viewers. The network confirmed that Luke Roberts will continue in his role as Det. Mark Hudson alongside Reardon’s return as Charlie Hudson. Fans can anticipate new adventures and a captivating narrative in the forthcoming season of “Hudson & Rex.”
The return of John Reardon to the series has generated significant anticipation, with viewers eagerly awaiting the upcoming season’s exciting developments.
