Swift expressed her excitement about the opportunity to write for characters she has admired since childhood.
The announcement of Swift’s involvement in the project was teased through a countdown on her website, featuring imagery of the Toy Story character Jessie and a billboard with the singer’s initials in the movie’s distinctive font. Speculation intensified on social media after Pixar shared a video on Instagram showing a Toy Story billboard with TS, accompanied by a dance performance by Jessie on top of the sign, reminiscent of Swift’s song “Shake it Off.”
Fans eagerly dissected the clues, noting the presence of 13 clouds on the billboard, a nod to Swift’s favorite number. They also observed connections to Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album cover, which featured clouds instead of birds, further linking her music to the Pixar universe.
This collaboration is not Swift’s first foray into animation, as she previously provided the voice for Audrey in the film The Lorax and appeared in a Disney animated series. Toy Story 5 is scheduled to premiere on June 19, featuring the return of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz, facing a new challenge posed by technology.
