The TV series “Every Year After,” inspired by Carley Fortune’s popular novel “Every Summer After,” has been confirmed for a second season on Prime Video. The show, featuring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett and produced by Carley Fortune, premiered this summer.
The plot of “Every Summer After” revolves around Percy and Sam, childhood friends who reunite after years to navigate a complex love story following a tragic event that separated them. The upcoming season will draw inspiration from Fortune’s second book, “One Golden Summer,” set in Barry’s Bay, Ontario.
In “One Golden Summer,” the focus shifts to Sam’s brother, Charlie, as he embarks on a romantic journey. The story introduces Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood retreat, only to have her plans disrupted by the charming and persistent Charlie. Their unexpected reunion reignites feelings from the past, leading Alice to question the potential for something more.

Carley Fortune, a prominent Toronto-based journalist and author, has garnered acclaim for her works, including “Meet Me at the Lake,” “Every Summer After,” “One Golden Summer,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Our Perfect Storm.” “Meet Me at the Lake” received recognition on Canada Reads in 2024, championed by Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to feature on the show.
