William Shatner, the 95-year-old Canadian actor known for his role as James Tiberius Kirk in the original 1960s Star Trek series, is stepping into the heavy metal music scene with a new band. The band, called The *uckers, includes renowned musicians such as Phil Soussan, Marcus Nand, Britt Lightning, and Fred Aching.
Shatner, who has released several albums over the years, including collaborations with artists like Ben Folds and Sheryl Crow, is set to debut his latest heavy metal album at the Riot Fest music festival in Chicago this summer. The festival, known for its diverse lineup of punk, rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop, and alternative acts, has been trying to secure Shatner as a performer for years.
In a video message posted on the Riot Fest website, Shatner expressed his excitement about debuting his heavy metal record at the festival. However, he also laid out a list of demands for the organizers, including fire breathers, a signed Montreal Canadiens hockey sweater, and a themed dressing room.
Additionally, Shatner has requested special treatment from the city of Chicago, such as singing Take Me out to the Ball Game at a baseball game and co-anchoring the weather with a local meteorologist. One of his bold requests includes having a boat named in his honor so he can captain it once again.
As the anticipation builds for Shatner’s heavy metal debut at Riot Fest, fans are eager to see how the iconic actor will fare in this new musical frontier.
