Police authorities in Quebec and Ontario apprehended 13 individuals on Tuesday in connection with the killing of a 45-year-old woman, believed to have been mistakenly targeted in lieu of her son, a member of a notorious gang. Among those arrested are men and women ranging from 18 to 51 years old, with six of them scheduled to face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in court later in the day.
Captain Marie-Manon Savard from the Quebec City police department stated that the arrests were related to the homicide of Jennifer Morin, who tragically lost her life at her residence in Quebec City in December 2024. The incident was deemed a case of mistaken identity as the perpetrators had actually been aiming for her son, Jeffrey Morin, who is associated with the infamous gang called the Blood Family Mafia.
The operation, spearheaded by Quebec City police, involved over 200 officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and various Quebec departments and targeted 14 separate locations. Raids conducted in Montreal earlier that day occurred at a residential building in the Lachine borough.
One of the suspects linked to Morin’s death was apprehended at the Quebec City detention center where they were already in custody. The ongoing power struggle between the Blood Family Mafia and the Hells Angels biker gang in the Quebec City region has escalated into violent confrontations, resulting in multiple casualties.
Jeffrey Morin, involved in cocaine dealing, was sentenced to over six years in prison after pleading guilty to drug and weapons trafficking charges. An undercover operation revealed transactions of cocaine and semi-automatic weapons between Morin and an investigator. Following his mother’s demise, Morin informed the investigator of a delay in a drug shipment due to the tragic event.
Captain Savard highlighted the magnitude of Tuesday’s law enforcement action, describing it as one of the largest in the history of the Quebec City police force. The comprehensive investigation and subsequent raids were the culmination of extensive analysis and meticulous police work.
