Vancouver police have unveiled images and videos of a suspect linked to a series of unprovoked stabbings at the Yaletown seawall last Friday, injuring multiple individuals. The authorities responded to reports of numerous stabbings near David Lam Park in Yaletown on Oct. 10, with three victims hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds.
Subsequently, four more victims have emerged, comprising another stabbing victim, a physically assaulted individual, and two unharmed persons, bringing the total known victims to seven. The assaults have been described as violent and random, prompting Sgt. Steve Addison to express concerns over community safety until the suspect is apprehended.
The victims, including five men and two women aged between 23 and 59, may not be limited to those already identified, and potential witnesses are urged to come forward with pertinent information. The suspect, believed to be a woman in her 20s or 30s with long dark hair in a ponytail, was last seen heading east on Marinaside Crescent, donning an oversized black leather jacket, black pants, and possibly a leopard-print garment.
Authorities suspect the attacks were arbitrary and could have transpired in quick succession. Const. Tania Visintin emphasized the alarming nature of the incident for seawall users and local residents, underscoring the potential long-term emotional impact on the victims. Community members are urged to report any information or identification of the suspect to the police promptly.
