“Catherine O’Hara’s Vintage Comedy Skit Resurfaces”

Almost four decades ago, in a 1978 interview with Paul Soles on CBC, the beloved Canadian actress, comedian, and writer Catherine O’Hara displayed her early comedic talents in a skit featuring a mock commercial for a product named “Milk of Amnesia.”

“I often find myself exhausted after a long day when the kids are finally in bed,” she shared. “Ever wish you could unwind and forget the day’s challenges? I do – thanks to Philips Milk of Amnesia. A sip of this magical elixir and all the day’s worries simply vanish into thin air.”

To celebrate O’Hara, nominated for Best Actress in a Continuing Leading Comedic Role at the Canadian Screen Awards for her role as Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek,” CBC Arts unearthed this vintage clip. Take a moment to sit back, enjoy, and relive the joy O’Hara brought us with her humor.
