The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have raised concerns about possible foul play in the disappearance of a 51-year-old mother of three, who was last seen in February. The case of Jennifer Provencal’s vanishing becomes more perplexing as it was not reported for almost three months, until her absence was noticed by a sister residing in another part of the country.
Jennifer Provencal was last sighted on February 5 near her rural residence in Forest Grove, a small community outside 100 Mile House, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Vancouver. Her husband, Thomas Boulding, mentioned that following an argument, he left the house, and upon his return, she was no longer present.
Boulding explained to CBC News in September that Jennifer had previously left the residence on a few occasions and would eventually reach out for him to pick her up from where she was staying. He expressed his expectation that this disappearance would follow a similar pattern.
Living in an off-grid property without cellphones, Jennifer’s sister, Johanne Provencal, residing in Montreal, was unaware of her disappearance until several weeks later. After unsuccessful attempts to contact Jennifer, Johanne eventually spoke to Boulding on April 21, who disclosed that Jennifer had been missing since February.
Johanne was shocked by this revelation and, after discussing with her daughter, decided to file a police report on April 21. On the other hand, Boulding believed that Jennifer had intentionally left and therefore did not report her missing earlier.
While acknowledging their strained relationship and a heated argument on the day of her disappearance, Boulding mentioned that it was uncharacteristic of Jennifer to vanish without informing anyone. He expressed regret for the altercation and emphasized Jennifer’s strong-willed and independent nature.
The RCMP’s major crimes unit is actively investigating the case and has indicated suspicions of foul play. Following searches on Jennifer’s property, including with canine units, Boulding cooperated by providing personal items and electronic devices to assist in the investigation.
Both the police and Johanne Provencal are urging anyone with information to come forward to help shed light on Jennifer’s disappearance. Johanne remains hopeful of discovering the truth behind her sister’s vanishing and honoring her memory.
