Will Dandjinou showcased outstanding performance at the Short Track World Tour event in Montreal, securing a total of five speed skating medals over two days to lead the Canadian team. The day kicked off with Dandjinou and his mixed relay teammates Danaé Blais, Courtney Sarault, and Félix Roussel clinching gold in the 2,000-meter race in a swift time of 2:37.599. They surged ahead during the 10th lap, ultimately triumphing over South Korea and Poland.
Later in the day, Dandjinou, hailing from Sherbrooke, Quebec, led a Canadian 1-2 finish in the men’s 1,000 race alongside Steven Dubois. Dandjinou finished first with a time of 1:25.417, just ahead of Dubois. In the final event of the competition, Dandjinou contributed to Canada’s victory in the men’s 5,000 relay, clocking in at 6:57.743 and besting the Netherlands and Italy.
Canada wrapped up the weekend with a total of 10 medals and concluded their two-week home stretch with 17 medals, including 10 gold, three silver, and four bronze. They currently lead the Team Crystal Globe standings, holding a substantial lead over the Korean White Tigers. Dandjinou and Sarault also lead in their respective Crystal Globe standings.
The event saw notable achievements from Sarault, who secured a podium finish in the women’s 500 event, crossing the line just behind Xandra Velzeboer and ahead of Kristen Santos-Griswold. In the women’s 1,500, Sarault narrowly missed the podium, finishing behind Santos-Griswold and Choi Min-jeong.
Looking ahead, Gdansk, Poland, is set to host the next stop on November 20-23, followed by Dordrecht, Netherlands, a week later. Additionally, the world championships are scheduled to take place in Montreal in March, shortly after the Olympics.
