The share of Quebec workers 65 and older has increased fivefold over the past 20 years, the Institut de la statistique du Québec reported Tuesday in its new Statistical Showcase on the Aging of the Population and Seniors.
Their share has increased from 0.8 per cent in 2000 to 4.9 per cent in 2023. In the same vein, the employment rate of people 65 and older has quadrupled, from 3.2 per cent in 2000 to 12.3 per cent in 2023.
