“Ontario Funds Reagan-Narrated Anti-Tariff Ad for U.S.”

Ontario has allocated $75 million for the airing of a new anti-tariff commercial in the U.S., specifically targeting Republican viewers. The ad features an audio clip of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan from 1987 discussing the negative long-term effects of tariffs.

Premier Doug Ford, a self-declared admirer of Reagan, believes that using Reagan’s voice will resonate with Republican audiences and convey the message that tariffs can ultimately harm Americans. The advertisement is scheduled to debut on Newsmax and Bloomberg this week, with plans to expand its reach to other major networks including Fox News, Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, and ABC, as well as their local affiliates.

This initiative is not the first time the Ontario government has launched anti-tariff campaigns in the U.S. Previous ads emphasized the enduring partnership between Canada, Ontario, and the United States.
