Certain models of Vesta tankless hot water heaters have been recalled due to concerns about carbon monoxide exposure. The recall, issued jointly by Vesta, Health Canada, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is a result of reported instances of cracked exhaust ducts. This defect can lead to the leakage of gases into homes, posing a serious risk of carbon monoxide poisoning that could be fatal or cause severe harm.
Health Canada advises all owners of these water heaters to immediately cease use and contact Vesta to arrange for a certified technician to install a free repair. The recall affects VRS and VRP models, as well as specific VRS-Plus and VRP-Plus models.
According to Vesta, approximately 3,496 units of the affected water heaters were sold in Canada between May 2017 and July 2025. As of October 10, the company has received reports of 10 cracked exhaust ducts in Canada and 33 in the United States, with no injuries or fatalities reported.
Customers can reach Vesta for assistance by phone at 1-888-505-5525 during business hours, through email at condensingwaterheater@realtimeresults.net, or online via the company’s website. Health Canada encourages consumers to report any health or safety incidents associated with the use of these products.
