“Tragic Brampton House Fire Claims Lives, Leaves Four Critical”

In Brampton, a tragic overnight house fire has claimed the lives of two adults and left four others, including a child, in critical condition. Emergency services responded to the fire near McLaughlin Road and Remembrance Road around 2:13 a.m. Thursday. The deceased adults were found both inside and outside the building.

Three adults and a child, believed to be around four to five years old, were rushed to the hospital with severe burns and smoke inhalation. The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire in collaboration with first responders.

Peel Regional Police suspect that a multi-generational family of nine along with two other individuals resided in the affected building. Unfortunately, three family members are currently unaccounted for, prompting fire crews to carefully dismantle the structure in search of them.

Mayor Patrick Brown expressed his sympathy for the victims and criticized the absentee landlord, who had neglected safety compliance despite ongoing city orders dating back to 2019. Neighbors, like Jude Adibe, described the fire spreading rapidly and expressed concern for the close-knit community impacted by the devastating incident.
