“Huskies Head to Vanier Cup After Emotional Win”

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies secured a spot in the national championship game by defeating the Queen’s Golden Gaels 22-11 in the Mitchell Bowl held in Saskatoon on Saturday. They will now face off against the Montreal Carabins in the upcoming Vanier Cup in Regina.

During the game, Daniel Kubongo was recognized as the offensive player of the game for his remarkable 85-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter, contributing to the Huskies’ 14-1 halftime lead. Kubongo honored quarterback Anton Amundrud by displaying the number 11 after scoring the touchdown.

The Huskies played with heavy hearts following the news of Amundrud’s cancer diagnosis. Kubongo dedicated his performance to Amundrud, emphasizing the team’s unity and support for their beloved teammate.

Coach Scott Flory expressed deep admiration for Amundrud and the team’s emotional journey throughout the week. The Huskies, after overcoming an early setback, showcased strong defense and special teams performances to secure the victory.
