“Superstar Lineup: FIFA Introduces Halftime Show for World Cup Final”

FIFA is planning to introduce a halftime show at the upcoming World Cup final this summer, taking inspiration from the popular Super Bowl performances. The event, set to be held at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19, will feature superstar artists Shakira, Madonna, and K-pop group BTS headlining the show.

The halftime concert, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, aims to raise $100 million US for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, dedicated to enhancing children’s access to education and soccer. The announcement of the show was made through a video on Coldplay’s Instagram page, featuring Sesame Street characters Elmo and Cookie Monster, alongside a surprise appearance by BTS.

Traditionally, soccer halftime breaks are solely for player rest, limited to 15 minutes as per the rules set by the International Football Association Board. It is uncertain whether this break will be extended to accommodate the halftime performance.

The decision has sparked discussions online, with some fans debating whether halftime shows should be exclusive to American football. FIFA President Gianni Infantino believes the event will unite music and football for a significant cause on a global stage.

Additionally, FIFA has confirmed Reggaeton artist J Balvin’s performance at the opening ceremony in Mexico City, alongside a lineup of Mexican cultural icons. The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico, will take place throughout June and July.
