“Alberta Municipal Election Results: New Mayors and Councils Elected”

Unofficial and official election outcomes for municipalities in central and northern Alberta are being released by various towns and regions in the province. Here is a snapshot of the recent election results:

**St. Albert:** In St. Albert, Scott Olivieri secured the position of mayor with 57.9% of the votes. The voter turnout was 30%, with 16,451 out of 54,849 eligible voters casting their ballots.

**Red Deer & Red Deer County:** Cindy Jefferies won the mayoral race in Red Deer with 41% of the vote. All incumbent councillors retained their seats, and new faces include Tristin Brisbois, Cassandra Curtis, Jaelene Tweedle, and Adam Goodwin. In Red Deer County, Brent Ramsay led the mayoral race.

**Jasper:** Wendy Hall, Ralph Melnyk, and Kathleen Waxer were re-elected as councillors in Jasper. New councillors include Danny Frechette, Kable Kongsrud, and Laurie Rodger.

**Hinton:** Brian LaBerge was elected as the new mayor of Hinton. Several new council members will join, including Natalie Charlton, Gail Dunn, Donald MacLean, William (Bill) McDonald, and Dewly Nelson. Unofficial results for the Town of Hinton Recreation Centre Modernization Plebiscite were also released.

**Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo:** Mayor Sandy Bowman won reelection. Various councillors were elected across different wards, including Mike Allen, Ty Brandt, Lance Bussieres, Luana Bussieres, Donald Scott, and Jennifer Vardy.

**Fort Saskatchewan:** Lisa Makin emerged as the new mayor of Fort Saskatchewan. Councillors Arjun Randhawa and Allan Wesley were elected, along with re-elected incumbent Birgit Blizzard.

**Morinville:** Simon Boersma was acclaimed as mayor in Morinville. Maurice St. Denis and Jenn Anheliger return as councillors, with new additions Nathan Himschoot, Lisa Parenteau, Daryn Duliba, and Jayson Wood.

**County of Northern Lights:** Reeve Terry Ungarian and incumbent councilors Gary These and Gloria Dechant were re-elected. Results of a plebiscite on a potential nuclear power plant were also revealed.

**City of Leduc & Leduc County:** Lars Hansen led the mayoral race in Leduc, while Glen Bienert and Bonnie Thomas were elected as new councillors in Leduc County.

**County of Grande Prairie:** The County of Grande Prairie will have a mix of returning and new councillors. Incumbents such as Amanda Frayn and Kurt Balderston were re-elected, along with new members Terri Beaupre, Marty Tissington, Brian Lieverse, and Brian Grant.

**Strathcona County:** Mayor Rod Frank won reelection in Strathcona County. Most incumbents retained their council seats, with Aaron Nelson being the only new councillor-elect.

**City of Cold Lake:** Bob Mattice was elected as the new mayor of Cold Lake. Several new council members will join him in office.

**City of Grande Prairie:** Jackie Clayton was re-elected as mayor of Grande Prairie. A mix of incumbent and new councillors will form the city council.

**City of Spruce Grove:** Jeff Acker secured the position of mayor in Spruce Grove. New council members include Spencer Bennett, Danielle Carter, Jan Gillett, Brad Mastaler, Erin Stevenson, and Jeff Tokar.

**Parkland County:** Rod Shaigec won the mayoral race in Parkland County. New and returning councillors were elected to the council.

**Sturgeon County:** Alanna Hnatiw was re-elected as mayor of Sturgeon County. Incumbents and new councillors were elected in various divisions.

**High Level:** Josh Lambert was elected as the new mayor of High Level. Several councillors were re-elected, and new members will join the council.

**Ponoka:** In Ponoka County, incumbent Doug Weir won in Division 3. Acclaimed candidates and returning councillors will continue their roles.

**M.D. of Greenview:** A mix of new and familiar faces were elected as councillors in the M.D. of Greenview. Darren Soderquist, James Vander Leest, Chad Taylor, and Nicholas Hansen are among the newcomers.

**Lacombe City & Lacombe County:** Thalia Hibbs is leading the mayoral race in Lacombe City. A new city council will be formed, with incumbent councillors trailing. Lacombe County also saw a mix of returning and new councillors being elected.
