“Arrest Made After Fire at Kelowna’s Knox Mountain Park”

Kelowna RCMP have reported the arrest and custody of an individual following a fire incident at Knox Mountain Park on Friday. Authorities closed off access to the park, situated in a residential vicinity near the downtown area, upon the discovery of smoke and flames on the mountainside. Police and fire department personnel facilitated the evacuation of hikers from the mountain. Despite concerns about high winds in the region, emergency crews were able to suppress the flames by 4:45 p.m. PT and remained at the scene.

Described as Kelowna’s largest natural park, Knox Mountain Park spans 3.85 square kilometers just north of the downtown area, according to the city. Controlled burning operations were conducted in the vicinity on October 16.
