Blue Jays supporters faced an emotional rollercoaster during the final moments of Game 7 of the World Series, but they remained glued to their screens to witness the thrilling conclusion of the baseball season on Saturday night.
According to Rogers, the broadcast of Game 7, where the Blue Jays narrowly lost 5-4 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in extra innings, captured an average audience of 10.9 million viewers in Canada. This viewership, spanning across Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, and Citytv, marked a record as the most-watched Rogers broadcast to date.
The Toronto-L.A. showdown throughout the seven-game series attracted an average of 7.5 million Canadian viewers, making it the most-watched Blue Jays games ever aired by Rogers.
Despite Toronto’s defeat in the series against Los Angeles with a score of 4-3, the Blue Jays emerged victorious in Game 1, Game 4, and Game 5 of the World Series.
In 2004, Rogers Communications Inc. took full ownership of the Blue Jays after acquiring a majority stake in the team in 2000. The company also possesses the Rogers Centre stadium, previously known as SkyDome.
The recently concluded World Series marked Toronto’s third appearance in Major League Baseball’s annual championship. While the Blue Jays secured back-to-back titles in 1992 and 1993, this year’s run marked their return to the Fall Classic after a long hiatus.
On the other hand, the Dodgers clinched their ninth championship victory against the Blue Jays, solidifying their status as repeat champions after winning the title in 2024. Additionally, the L.A. team also emerged victorious in the shortened 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Dodgers celebrated their 2025 World Series triumph with a championship parade in Los Angeles on Monday.
