Canada and the United States are set to clash in an exhibition match of women’s flag football this upcoming weekend. The teams will convene during halftime of the Buffalo Bills’ home game against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium. The match will last for eight minutes, marking a historic occasion as the first meeting of international women’s flag football teams on an NFL field. Notably, flag football is scheduled to debut at the Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles.
Quarterback Sara Parker expressed her enthusiasm for Team Canada’s participation in the halftime event, stating, “The NFL platform provides us with an opportunity to showcase flag football, exhibit our athletes’ skills, and serve as inspiration for young girls interested in the sport.”
Canada recently secured a silver medal at the 2025 IFAF Continental Championship in Panama on September 14 after claiming bronze at the 2025 World Games in China.
Head coach Rachel Lessard expressed gratitude and honor towards the Buffalo Bills for granting Canada this remarkable opportunity. She emphasized the significance of playing under the stadium lights and on the iconic field in front of an enthusiastic crowd, highlighting the event as a moment that the athletes will cherish forever. She added, “It’s more than just a game; it symbolizes unity, respect, and the shared passion for sports between our nations.”
