Canada’s Summer McIntosh achieved a new milestone at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships by breaking the U.S. Open record in the women’s 400-meter freestyle event. The three-time Olympic champion clocked in at 3 minutes and 55.37 seconds, securing a significant lead over her closest rival, American Anna Peplowski, who finished second with a time of 4:10.55. Emma Weyant of the United States clinched the third spot with a time of 4:11.25. The previous U.S. Open record was held by American Katie Ledecky, who set a time of 3:56.81 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, last April. Despite coming in just over a second behind her own world-record time of 3:54.18 set in Victoria last June, McIntosh’s performance was exceptional. The competition is set to continue until Saturday.
