Canadian Swimmers Shine with Gold Wins at Toronto World Cup

Canadian swimmers Josh Liendo and Ilya Kharun impressed at the swimming World Cup event in Toronto on Friday. Liendo secured gold in the men’s 100-meter freestyle, setting a new Canadian record with a time of 45.30 seconds. Kharun triumphed in the 200m butterfly event.

Liendo expressed his joy at his performance, mentioning he had a good swim and enjoyed the experience. Kharun also spoke positively about his race, mentioning how smoothly he swam and his satisfaction with the win.

Liendo’s success continued from the previous day when he broke the short-course world record in the men’s 100m butterfly and claimed another gold in the 50m freestyle. Kharun’s victory in the 200m butterfly marked his third consecutive win on the World Cup circuit, earning him $10,000 US.

In other events, Finlay Knox finished third in the men’s 200m individual medley. Australian Mollie O’Callaghan set a new world record in the women’s 200m freestyle race, while Mary-Sophie Harvey secured second place in the women’s 400m individual medley.
