Chappell Roan Ends Ties with Talent Agency Amid Scandal

Pop singer Chappell Roan announced on Monday that she has severed ties with the talent agency headed by Casey Wasserman, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics chief, who has come under scrutiny for engaging in flirtatious email exchanges with Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex trafficker, over two decades ago. Wasserman has issued an apology for his communication with Maxwell following the release of private emails between the two individuals.

Recently disclosed files from the U.S. Justice Department concerning the deceased financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell’s former partner, include flirtatious email conversations between Wasserman, who was married at the time, and Maxwell from 2003. Roan took to Instagram to declare her decision to part ways with Wasserman’s talent agency, emphasizing the importance of artists having representation that upholds their values and ensures their safety and respect.

Wasserman, a prominent figure in the sports and entertainment industry, has denied any personal or professional association with Epstein. He clarified that his connection with Maxwell predated the revelation of her and Epstein’s criminal activities. The talent agency led by Wasserman refrained from providing an immediate response to the situation.

Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term following her conviction in 2021 on various charges, including the trafficking of minors, was arrested in 2020 for allegedly recruiting and grooming young girls for Epstein between 1994 and 2004. The exposure of internal documents by the U.S. Justice Department has shed light on Epstein’s relationships with numerous influential individuals, both prior to and after his 2008 guilty plea to soliciting an underage girl for prostitution. Epstein’s demise in a New York correctional facility in 2019 was officially deemed a suicide.
