After a recent show cancellation in Seattle, singer D4vd has decided to cancel the remainder of his current tour. All upcoming U.S. tour stops have been called off, and several European shows have been marked as canceled on Ticketmaster’s platform. Despite the anticipation, D4vd’s expanded album titled “Withered: Marcescence,” scheduled for release on September 19, has not yet been made available on streaming services, as per an announcement on Dv4d’s Instagram.
The tour cancellations follow the discovery of a decomposed body in an impounded Tesla in Los Angeles, identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who went missing the previous year. Reports indicate that the vehicle was registered to D4vd, also known as David Anthony Burke, aged 20. While authorities have not linked D4vd to Rivas’s death and ownership of the vehicle remains unconfirmed by the police, the singer’s representatives have refrained from commenting on the matter.
Neither D4vd’s agents nor Interscope, the singer’s label, have responded to CBC’s request for a statement. Subsequent to these developments, D4vd’s tour has been largely scrapped, with the cancellation of a Seattle show earlier in the week. Details from Variety indicate that concerts in Los Angeles and an appearance at the city’s Grammy Museum have been taken off the respective venues’ websites. The remaining two U.S. stops in Los Angeles and San Francisco are now listed as canceled on Ticketmaster.
While some tickets for the European leg of the tour remain on sale, numerous others have already been marked as canceled, including shows in Oslo, Cologne, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Glasgow.
The lifeless body of Rivas was found inside the vehicle, with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirming the tragic discovery on Wednesday. The cause of death has yet to be determined by officials. The body was located on September 8 at a tow lot in Hollywood after a foul odor emanating from the Tesla was noticed by someone.
The medical examiner’s office stated that the body was “severely decomposed” and suggested that the individual had been deceased within the vehicle for a considerable period before being discovered. Police have disclosed conducting a search at a residence on L.A.’s Doheny Place, linked to the incident. An unnamed spokesperson for D4vd informed NBC Los Angeles that the singer has been cooperating with authorities since the discovery of the body.
