Félix Auger-Aliassime qualifies for ATP Finals

Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime secures a spot in the ATP Finals alongside other top tennis players. The Montreal native’s qualification was dependent on the outcome of the Hellenic Championship tennis final between Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Lorenzo Musetti of Italy. Djokovic, who had already secured his place in the tournament, clinched victory over Musetti with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win, marking his 101st ATP title and a record 72nd title on hard courts. However, Djokovic later withdrew from the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, citing a shoulder injury.

Despite needing a win to qualify ahead of Auger-Aliassime, Musetti will now take Djokovic’s spot in the event. The ATP Finals are scheduled to take place from Sunday to Nov. 16, featuring notable players like Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Italy’s Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton of the United States, Australia’s Alex de Minaur, and Germany’s Alexander Zverev.

In his opening group-stage match on Monday, Auger-Aliassime will face Sinner, who currently holds the top world ranking. The two recently clashed in the Paris Open final, where Sinner emerged victorious with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win to reclaim the top spot.
