Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently visited the set of the popular CBC comedy show “Son of a Critch” with his youngest son, Hadrien. Hadrien, a fan of the show like his father, will make a cameo appearance as an extra in an upcoming episode of Season 5.
During the visit, creator Mark Critch arranged for Hadrien to be part of a school scene where classmates discover their roles in a play. Although the elder Trudeau did not feature in any scenes, Critch humorously mentioned that they already had a drama teacher on set.
Trudeau expressed his gratitude for the experience on his Instagram, praising the show’s Canadian essence. The visit, which lasted two days in St. John’s, allowed Trudeau and Hadrien to meet the cast and crew. Hadrien impressed actor Malcolm McDowell with his attention to detail, engaging in discussions about the show’s intricacies.
British actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who plays a young Mark Critch, revealed that Hadrien shared insights about acting decisions and background tips during their conversation on set. Ainsworth commended Hadrien’s input, calling him a delightful individual.
Critch, known for his appearances alongside Trudeau on “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” discovered the Trudeaus’ fondness for “Son of a Critch” during a book launch event in Ottawa. Trudeau, a father of three, including Xavier and Ella-Grace, has seen his children explore different paths, such as Xavier’s music career and Ella-Grace’s musical collaboration with her brother.
The interaction between Trudeau and the “Son of a Critch” team reflects the strong ties between the entertainment industry and political figures. The show’s creator, Critch, appreciates the support from the Trudeaus and looks forward to their continued involvement in the show’s activities.
