Kevin Gausman is set to be the starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays in the first game of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees. The decision was confirmed by Manager John Schneider during a press briefing before a team practice session at Rogers Centre.
While the Yankees are scheduled to have batting practice in the early evening, they have not yet announced who their starting pitcher will be. The opening game of the series, which is a best-of-five matchup, is slated for Saturday afternoon at 4:08 p.m. ET.
Schneider mentioned that Toronto’s shortstop, Bo Bichette, is still sidelined due to a left knee sprain and is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis. The Blue Jays are expected to unveil their 26-man roster for the series in the morning.
Last year, the Yankees clinched the pennant, whereas the Blue Jays are aiming to secure their first postseason win since 2016.
