“Health Canada Recalls Cannabis Products for High THC Levels”

Health Canada has issued a recall for two cannabis products due to mislabeling of the THC content. Consumers who purchased Chillows THC pouches in hot cinnamon and winter mint flavors are advised to return them to the stores or properly dispose of them. The packages were labeled with 10 milligrams of THC per pouch, but Health Canada found that the actual THC levels varied and were higher than stated.

The affected products were distributed in Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia from April 16 to July 30 this year. The recall was initiated after a consumer complaint, prompting an inspection that revealed elevated THC levels in the pouches.

Health Canada warned that the inconsistent and increased THC levels in each pouch could lead to difficulties in managing cannabis consumption decisions. Over-intoxication from using the pouches may result in various symptoms such as confusion, anxiety, elevated heart rate, disorganized thinking, physical and mental impairment, decreased blood pressure, fear, panic, and in extreme cases, psychotic episodes in certain individuals.

The health agency emphasized the importance of safely disposing of the recalled products to prevent children from accessing them.
