Leylah Fernandez Powers Past Galfi in Osaka

Canada’s Leylah Fernandez secured a decisive 6-1, 6-4 victory over Hungary’s Dalma Galfi during the Japan Open tennis tournament in Osaka. Fernandez, hailing from Laval, Quebec, delivered one ace and three double faults while seizing the opportunity to break her opponent’s serve three times out of eight chances.

Impressively, Fernandez dominated by claiming 78% of her first-serve points, surpassing Galfi who only managed to win 55% in this category. On the other hand, Galfi registered three aces, two double faults, yet struggled to capitalize on her single break-point opportunity. Fernandez’s next challenge will be against Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova.
