“Newborn Baby Abandoned on Doorstep, Authorities Seek Suspect”

Longueuil authorities are seeking the individual responsible for abandoning a newborn baby boy on a doorstep late Sunday night around 11 p.m. ET. The unknown person rang the doorbell and quickly left the scene, prompting the occupants of the residence on Bourgeoys Street to immediately contact 911.

The newborn infant was discovered wrapped in a blanket with his umbilical cord still intact, as reported by the police. Both the police and paramedics administered necessary care to the child, who was subsequently transported to a hospital and is reported to be in good health.

Mélanie Mercille, the spokesperson for the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL), revealed that the baby was born prematurely at 34 weeks. Following public tips, investigators are conducting searches in Marguerite Bourgeoys Park, situated close to the site where the infant was found. The park has been temporarily closed to the public for investigation purposes.

Mercille declined to reveal the gender of the individual who left the baby on the doorstep, emphasizing the uniqueness of this case in her 17-year career in law enforcement. Authorities plan to canvass the neighborhood on Monday to review any available surveillance footage that might aid in identifying the parents of the abandoned newborn. Further analyses are underway to track down the individual responsible for the abandonment.
