“RCMP Dispels Vehicle Theory in Missing Children Case”

After Lilly and Jack Sullivan were reported missing, two individuals residing near their home claimed to have heard a vehicle moving in the vicinity during the night. However, following a comprehensive review of surveillance footage in the Gairloch Road area of Pictou County, the RCMP disclosed that no evidence of vehicle activity was found at that time.

According to RCMP communications adviser Allison Gerrard, although witnesses reported hearing a vehicle sound, they could not confirm visually spotting one. The details from these witnesses were disclosed in redacted records released in August and later unveiled after certain redactions were lifted.

The court documents reveal that Lilly, 6, and Jack, 4, were reported missing after their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, called 911, stating they had wandered off from their home in Lansdowne Station. Living on the property were the siblings, their mother, stepfather Daniel Martell, their one-year-old sister, and Martell’s mother.

Statements from residents in the area mentioned hearing vehicle movements on the night of the disappearance. Brad Wong reported hearing a vehicle leaving several times from Daniel’s residence in the early hours of May 2. Another resident, Justin Smith, mentioned hearing a car near the intersection close to where the children went missing.

Martell recounted his activities on the night before the disappearance, stating that he retired to bed early and woke up the next morning. Brooks-Murray informed police that she put the children to bed before going to sleep herself around 9 p.m.

Martell clarified that no family member left the property that night, except for when he took Murray-Brooks’ SUV the next morning to search for the children. Despite the ongoing investigation, Martell expressed confidence in the efforts of the investigators.

The records also highlight interviews with Darin Geddes, a relative of Brooks-Murray, who speculated on social media about her involvement in the disappearance. Investigations revealed that cadaver dogs did not find any human remains in searches conducted, and the case remains under investigation as per the Missing Persons Act.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding the case have attracted global attention, with ongoing efforts to unravel the truth behind the disappearance of Lilly and Jack Sullivan.
