“Ryan Gosling Corrects Iconic ‘La La Land’ Hand Pose”

The buzz surrounding the approaching 10th anniversary of Damien Chazelle’s musical rom-com “La La Land” is centered on a unique detail – Ryan Gosling’s hand position. Lionsgate Studios recently revealed a new poster for the celebratory re-release, addressing Gosling’s regretful wrist placement in a key scene from the film.

In a 2024 interview with the Wall Street Journal, Gosling expressed his desire to revisit his role as jazz pianist Sebastian Wilder and rectify his hand positioning during a significant dance sequence with Emma Stone. Gosling admitted to opting for a hand pose that he thought was cooler, despite being advised otherwise. Reflecting on the past, Gosling acknowledged that his unconventional hand gesture may have dampened the scene’s impact.

The updated poster features a modified version of Gosling’s pose to align more closely with Stone’s gesture, prompting a playful response from Lionsgate, stating, “Well, Ryan, you have been heard!” Gosling previously attempted to address the issue during the promotion of his movie “Project Hail Mary,” referring to his efforts as a “Hail Mary attempt” to correct his “La La Hand.”

During the unveiling of the revised poster at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, Justin Manfredi, Lionsgate’s executive vice-president of worldwide television marketing, mentioned that Gosling was pleased with the alteration. However, not all reactions were positive, with some fans expressing disappointment on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, arguing that the original mismatched poses better conveyed the essence of the film.
