Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against an individual who attempted to gain unauthorized entry into her residence in Los Angeles, causing her significant distress. The man in question, identified as 31-year-old William Applegate, allegedly trespassed onto a neighbor’s property to access the security fencing surrounding Carpenter’s home on May 23.
According to legal filings, Carpenter’s legal team is pursuing a permanent restraining order against Applegate, citing his deliberate and aggressive behavior during the incident. Carpenter described the episode as a blatant violation of her safety and privacy, expressing deep concern over the man’s actions.
Security footage from a Ring doorbell camera reportedly captured images of Applegate at Carpenter’s doorstep. Despite intervention from her private security, Applegate allegedly refused to leave the premises and falsely claimed to have a personal connection with the singer, a statement Carpenter vehemently denies.
Applegate was reportedly arrested following the initial incident but allegedly returned to Carpenter’s residence on multiple occasions, prompting further police involvement. Carpenter emphasized the emotional distress caused by Applegate’s repeated stalking and surveillance, leading to the issuance of a restraining order requiring him to stay at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her family members, and her personal spaces.
Law enforcement investigations revealed a concerning escalation in Applegate’s fixation on Carpenter since April 20, 2026, with Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department characterizing his behavior as disturbing and irrational. Applegate is scheduled to appear in court for a follow-up hearing and faces criminal charges related to trespassing.
