The quest for a missing aircraft traveling from the East Coast of Canada to Greenland has entered its second day. Naviair, a Danish state-owned organization responsible for air traffic services, disclosed to CBC News that they were informed of a missing single-engine plane around 4 p.m. local time on Saturday. The aircraft, registered under an American company, was en route from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, N.L., with one individual on board.
The search efforts, which resumed on Sunday via boat due to low-hanging clouds obstructing aerial searches, had been halted on Saturday evening because of poor visibility and adverse weather conditions. Search teams are focusing their efforts on the Sermitsiaq mountain region, located 15 kilometers northeast of Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland. Happy Valley-Goose Bay, situated in central Labrador, is approximately 850 kilometers northwest of St. John’s, with the Labrador Sea separating Labrador from Greenland.
