The banter between Toronto and Seattle expanded beyond baseball on Saturday as Seattle’s hockey team playfully teased Toronto Blue Jays fans. The Seattle Kraken arrived at Scotiabank Arena clad in Seattle Mariners jerseys, showing support for the city’s baseball team as they approach Game 6 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Jays.
Taking the banter online, the Kraken posted messages like “walk in the 6ix, takeover the 6ix” and “SEATTLE OVER EVERYBODY” on social media. Their tweet emphasized their allegiance to Seattle above all.
Following their gesture, the team triumphed over the Maple Leafs with a 4-3 victory on the ice. The Mariners currently lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 after a strong offensive performance secured a 6-2 win against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 5 on Friday.
The Blue Jays will confront Seattle once more on Sunday night for a critical Game 6 at Rogers Centre, aiming to stay alive in the series.
