“Spotify’s Disco Ball Logo Sparks User Outcry”

Not everyone is thrilled about Spotify’s temporary makeover featuring a shiny disco ball as its app icon. The change from the usual green-and-black design to a 3D mirrorball to commemorate the platform’s 20th anniversary has sparked criticism among users since its recent debut.

Many disgruntled users have expressed their discontent online, comparing the switch to controversial topics like pineapple on pizza or the word “moist.” Some users found the new 3D logo unattractive and pixelated, leading to calls for the designer’s dismissal and even threats to uninstall Spotify.

Despite the backlash, there are defenders who have labeled the critics as “haters” and defended Spotify’s move towards a more minimalist design approach.

Amid the uproar, social media managers from various brands joined in by creating their own disco ball-inspired logos to poke fun at the situation.

Responding to concerns about the logo’s readability and branding, Spotify clarified that the change was only temporary as part of their birthday celebration. A company spokesperson reassured users that the original icon would return after the anniversary festivities, acknowledging that not everyone appreciates the glittery disco ball aesthetic.

“It’s our birthday celebration, so we’re embracing the party theme, but we will revert to our regular icon once the celebration is over,” stated a Spotify representative in an online post. The company also confirmed that the temporary logo makeover would come to an end soon, with the usual icon set to be restored next week.
