A tool to support new parents when they encounter emotional challenges during and after pregnancy was launched Monday. Lionel Carmant, Quebec’s minister of social services, made the announcement at Montreal’s Ste-Justine Hospital.

According to the Observatoire pour l’éducation et la santé des enfants, problems with sadness, anxiety or depressive symptoms during pregnancy are among the most common complications among future parents. It is estimated that between 10 per cent and 25 per cent of parents are normally affected, but this rate increased to 37 per cent since the start of the pandemic.
