Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a global recall of approximately 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver-side seat belt buckle anchor that was not securely attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the functionality of the second-row seat belt system and increase the risk of injury to passengers. Stellantis has reported one injury potentially linked to the recall, with no reported fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will assess the attachment of the second-row center and driver-side seat belt buckle anchor and make necessary adjustments to ensure they are properly secured to the vehicle’s body structure.
