Paul Mann, a devoted fan of Formula One races, found himself in a difficult situation. He had purchased nine three-day passes to the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix directly from the event organizers for $840 each. However, due to unforeseen circumstances like his wife’s skiing injury and other cancellations, Mann was left with seven unused passes.
To address this, Mann decided to sell the tickets on StubHub, a well-known platform for ticket resale that offers a “FanProtect Guarantee” to ensure a secure transaction process for both buyers and sellers. Despite following StubHub’s instructions and listing the tickets on the site, Mann encountered an issue when the tickets were sold – he did not receive the over $6,000 he was owed.
StubHub, known as a major player in the ticket resale market, failed to fulfill its payment obligation to Mann, leaving him without the funds from the ticket sales. Mann’s experience highlights the challenges that some users may face when dealing with ticket resale platforms, even those with established reputations like StubHub.
