Tegan Quin, part of the music duo Tegan and Sara, has penned a story for Marvel Comics’ special issue titled “Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. The comic showcases the well-known gay couple, Wiccan and Hulkling, along with their families, emphasizing the significance of unity and relationships during challenging times.
In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by artist Luciano Vecchio, twins Wiccan and Speed join forces to combat Ultron while navigating their distinct paths as siblings. Expressing her excitement, Quin stated, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.”
The story marks Quin’s Marvel debut, with the experience described as both thrilling and magical. Quin reflected on the cathartic process of crushing Ultron in the story, drawing parallels to certain encounters in the music industry over the years.
“Wiccan & Hulkling” will also include contributions from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, as well as artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is also advocating for Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads features five Canadian celebrities selecting one book for national reading, engaging in debates over four days to eliminate one daily until a winner emerges. The event is scheduled to run from April 13 to 16 this year.
Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have released ten studio albums, featuring popular tracks such as “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their music has garnered acclaim, including Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the duo ventured into writing, releasing a joint memoir titled “High School” and a middle-grade graphic novel series “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” with illustrations by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to support the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning them the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Juno Awards.
