“Toronto Rookie Trey Yesavage to Start World Series Opener”

Toronto rookie Trey Yesavage is set to take the mound as the Blue Jays kick off the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Rogers Centre on Friday. Yesavage boasts a 2-1 record with a 4.20 earned-run average and has recorded 22 strikeouts in three playoff starts. Notably, he delivered an impressive performance against the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series, striking out 11 batters in 5 1/3 innings without conceding a hit.

Following a tough outing in the AL Championship Series against Seattle, Yesavage bounced back with a crucial win in Game 6 to keep the Blue Jays alive. On the other side, the Dodgers will start Blake Snell in the series. This marks the Blue Jays’ first appearance in the MLB championship since their consecutive title wins in 1993, while the Dodgers are the reigning champions.

Manager John Schneider refrained from revealing the Game 2 starter, choosing among Kevin Gausman, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber. Yesavage, the 20th overall pick in the previous year’s amateur draft from East Carolina University, showcased his talent throughout the season with promotions to various minor league levels.

In a possible roster update, Toronto may activate shortstop Bo Bichette for the World Series against the Dodgers. Bichette, a two-time All-Star, has recovered from a left knee sprain that sidelined him for over a month. His potential return could provide a significant boost to the Blue Jays, given his impressive batting average and offensive contributions.

As the anticipation builds for the World Series matchup, Toronto is gearing up to face the Dodgers in a highly anticipated clash on Friday night.
