Several Ukrainian cities and Moldova experienced emergency power cuts on Saturday due to technical issues affecting power lines between the two countries. Meanwhile, Moldova also faced major power outages, including in its capital, Chisinau. Moldova’s energy minister, Dorin Junghietu, explained that the loss of power lines in Ukraine triggered an automatic protection system leading to the electricity supply disconnection, urging the population to remain calm until power is restored.

The widespread outage followed Russian strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy grid, exacerbating the country’s existing power shortages.
