“Trump Considers Canceling 250th Anniversary Concerts”

U.S. President Donald Trump revealed plans to potentially cancel a series of concerts marking the nation’s 250th anniversary following multiple artists’ withdrawals. Trump hinted at the possibility of delivering a speech and organizing a rally in lieu of the concerts. He touted himself as a major draw, likening his audience sizes to those of Elvis Presley. Bret Michaels, the lead singer of Poison, recently became the fifth musician to pull out of the Freedom 250 concerts scheduled from June 25 to July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

According to the official website of Freedom 250, the event aims to celebrate the resilience of the American spirit. However, criticism has arisen over certain commemorative activities surrounding the country’s birthday, which some say excessively glorify Trump. These activities include proposals to feature Trump on commemorative coins, bills, and a special passport. Other performers who have withdrawn from the anniversary celebration include country singer Martina McBride and the funk and soul band, the Commodores.
