Strong interest in purchasing tickets for the groundbreaking $2 million Grey Cup 50/50 draw on Sunday caused an overload on the lottery platform, resulting in some customers unintentionally making duplicate purchases, as stated by the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation.
The announcement of the winning numbers has been postponed until the provider can distinguish valid tickets and reconcile the 50/50 figures, the foundation explained in a release.
The 50/50 prize pool surged to $2,005,107 following Sunday night’s Grey Cup game, with the eventual recipient set to claim half of the total amount. This marks the largest individual 50/50 reward in CFL history.
According to the foundation, a fraction of ticket buyers experienced multiple charges due to the sudden influx of traffic.
The foundation assured that only a small percentage of purchasers encountered this issue, and all redundant charges will be reimbursed.
The impact of duplicated orders on the final prize sum remains uncertain, and the timing of the draw is yet to be determined.
The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, the team’s charitable arm, focuses on promoting education, health, and grassroots football programs in the province.
