“Hamilton to Host 2026 Juno Awards at TD Coliseum”

Following Paul McCartney’s successful performance at TD Coliseum on Friday night, Hamilton is gearing up for another significant music event.

The 2026 Juno Awards are set to be held at the recently refurbished stadium on March 29, as announced by industry leaders and elected officials on Monday.

“When the rest of Canada tunes in, they will witness a vibrant, innovative Hamilton that is fully prepared for the spotlight,” stated Mayor Andrea Horwath to the enthusiastic crowd.

Accompanied by elected chiefs Sherri-Lynn Hill of the Six Nations of the Grand River and Claire Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, they expressed their anticipation to showcase Indigenous culture at the prestigious awards show.

“As we gear up for this momentous celebration, we look forward to seeing Indigenous artists, youth, and communities represented on a national platform,” mentioned Sault.

“Their voices play a crucial role in shaping Canada’s music scene, and their contributions deserve to be recognized with pride and enthusiasm.”

Recognition for Music Icons

Joni Mitchell, a four-time Juno winner and described as “one of the most influential songwriters and voices of her generation,” will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Junos.

Nelly Furtado, known for her chart-topping pop hits and winner of 10 Junos along with numerous Grammys and Latin Grammys, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Performers announced for the event include Hamilton’s Arkells and Toronto-based band The Beaches.

Arkells have secured nine Juno awards (including six for group of the year) since 2010, while The Beaches have won all five awards they’ve been nominated for since 2018.

During the press conference, Tim Potocic, owner of Hamilton’s Sonic Unyon Records, emphasized the significant impact the Junos will have on the city and its music scene.

“Hamilton will gain nationwide exposure through the broadcast and social media coverage,” he stated. “People across the country will be reminded that Hamilton fosters exceptional talent.”

This marks the seventh time that Hamilton will host the Junos.

The province has pledged $1.5 million in funding for the awards show and other Junos-related events scheduled from March 26 to 29.

Tickets for the awards ceremony and associated events will go on sale on November 28 at 10 a.m. ET, with the show being broadcast by CBC.
