Air Transat passengers were relieved on Tuesday evening as the company and its pilot union struck a tentative deal, averting a strike just before the busy holiday travel season. Transat A.T. Inc., the owner of the leisure airline, reached an agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association shortly before the union’s strike deadline, preventing the disruption of at least 18 flights scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Details of the tentative agreement between the company and the union, which represents approximately 750 Air Transat pilots, were not disclosed. The agreement will be subject to a vote by the union’s membership in the upcoming days. Annick Guerard, the President and CEO of Transat, expressed the airline’s preference to avoid a work stoppage and apologized to affected customers for the uncertainty caused by the situation.

The disruption in flight operations caused concern among passengers, but the resolution of the labor dispute brought relief to many travelers, including Adrian Ruso, who expressed gratitude for returning home without delays.
