“Tragic Shooting in Brampton Sparks Calls for Bail Reforms”

Savannah Rose Kulla-Davies tragically lost her life in a fatal shooting at a Brampton plaza after meeting her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, who then abducted their 17-month-old daughter. Deschepper was later shot by police in Niagara Falls. Kulla-Davies, a 29-year-old mother of four, was described as devoted to her children and had a passion for dance before becoming a full-time mother. Her family plans to seek custody of her youngest child.

Deschepper had a history of firearm charges, including an incident involving Kulla-Davies. Despite facing serious charges, he was out on bail at the time of the shooting. Her father expressed frustration at the legal system’s handling of the case and regrets not knowing more about her relationship with Deschepper. Investigations are ongoing, and a female companion of Deschepper has been charged as an accessory to murder.

The tragic incident has sparked calls for stricter bail reforms, with Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown advocating for changes in the wake of the shooting. Despite legal measures already in place, the community mourns the loss of Kulla-Davies and recognizes the need for justice in her case.
