“Young Siblings Interview Blue Jays Stars, Inspiring Fans”

During the Toronto Blue Jays’ post-season journey, Hugo, aged 10, and Meredith Fu, aged 8, have dedicated themselves to uncovering the burning inquiries on fans’ minds about their beloved players. In a recent Instagram video, Meredith queried Blue Jays outfielder Davis Schneider about the longevity of his moustache, to which Schneider playfully responded, “As long as we keep winning, I’m going to keep it for as long as that happens.”

The duo has had the privilege of conducting one-on-one interviews with prominent Blue Jays figures such as ACLS MVP Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and pitcher Kevin Gausman, as well as other MLB stars. Meredith described the experience as “very fun” during an interview with Nil Koksal on As It Happens.

Their interviewing routine involves meticulous preparation, including fact-checking and drafting questions the night before a game. Hugo explained that they scour the official app, jotting down details like player news, numbers, and heights to ensure accuracy.

For the siblings, interviewing their baseball idols is a dream realized, particularly now that the Blue Jays have reached the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hugo, elated by the team’s success, expressed, “I’ve been basically waiting my whole life for this. When they won… I swear I started levitating.”

Meredith shared a poignant insight from an interview with Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt, highlighting his perspective on the value of learning from failures. Hugo, offering his own advice to the players, emphasized their preparedness for the World Series and encouraged them not to lose heart even in challenging moments.

As anticipation builds for the World Series showdown, these young reporters continue to engage with players and inspire fans with their unique perspective on the game.
